Every sale, many of our consignors choose to donate their leftover items. These items find their way to loving homes all over the Susquehanna Valley by way of Snyder Country Children & Youth Services. Below is a letter from Social Services Aide, Lori Weir about how the donations were distributed.

"Thank you to all who donated items left over from the My Little Bugs Consignment Sale! The items went to Snyder County Children & Youth Services (SCCYS) to help children living in our county. We sorted through all the donations and were able to distribute clothing, blankets and sleepers to eight children in need immediately. We restocked our totes at SCCYS for emergency needs. These individual totes (more than 20) were created to hold each size of clothing - one set for boys and one set for girls. Many times when children come into our office they arrive with nothing or very little of their own possessions. Having nice clothing on hand is so helpful to the Resource Parents or Kinship Caregivers.
Like most people, we feel pretty passionate about literacy. Many of the books that come into our office get grouped together by age appropriateness, subject matter, etc. and placed in gallon bags. They are placed by the entrance way to encourage families to take a packet home for their child(ren). We also have a roll away shelving unit of books and other activities that are kept at the courthouse. These items are rolled out when a child is waiting for a hearing to occur. They are offered something from the portable unit, and then they are permitted to keep whatever they selected. Items will be replaced with some of the donations from the My Little Bugs Consignment Sale.
This year we distributed toy donations in a unique way... we lined the hallways of our office with all the toys that were donated. Staff were then asked to take something along for a child they are working with as a gift whenever they do a home visit. Workers enjoy sharing donations with these children. The toys have almost all found a new home!
Thanks again to all those who donated the items that didn't sell. Your donations were greatly appreciated!
Sincerely,
Lori Weir
